"THE CROSSING"
While developing a water color series for a one man show at the age of 19, Sly was invited to guest appear at an outdoor art show in the Coconut Grove district in Miami.

"I was inspired by the movement of the people, the activities in the streets and the smell of festival food wafting high in the air which is why I featured much of the sky as subject.

"The Crossing" was an exercise in combining the movement and energy of the attending crowd around me, that appeared almost surreal as I stood there taking it all in.

The details of the traffic light, the signs that controlled everything around me, and the buildings are represented as moments frozen in time as the movement of the crowds ultimately dominate the scene."
